Helping Adults Explore Their Community. Explore, Connect, and Thrive.

Stepping Out is a warm, supportive, and community-based program for adults ages 18 and older who experience intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who want to get out, try new things, and feel connected in their community.

Participants are referred by a personal agent or service coordinator and receive individualized support that honors personal choice, comfort, and interests.

Learn everyday skills that support independence, like riding public transportation, navigating the community, and building confidence in new environments.

Choice Comes First

Stepping Out is a person-centered program, meaning you help decide how your time is spent. Activities are chosen by each participant based on what feels right that day—allowing flexibility, comfort, and independence.

Participants may enjoy:

  • Fun recreational and leisure activities
  • Dining at local restaurants
  • Visiting parks, museums, and community spaces
  • Shopping, attending festivals, and local events
  • Exploring hobbies and discovering new interests

Stepping Out provides a welcoming, inclusive environment where adults are supported to explore new opportunities, build meaningful connections, and thrive—while being celebrated as individuals with unique interests, goals, and strengths. Our program empowers participants to engage at their own pace, discover new skills, and grow in a supportive, respectful community.

Stepping Out operates Monday through Friday, offering flexible attendance options to fit each participant’s schedule: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
