The Arc Lane County is a grassroots advocacy organization, ensuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families have the supports they need to live full lives in the communities in which they live.
In addition to advocating to protect the civil rights of people who experience disabilities, The Arc also provides supports and services to help people live, work and play in the community.
The Arc Lane County:
- Connects families and individuals who experience disabilities to information, resources and direct support professionals.
- Provides children and youth skill building and recreation programs.
- Teaches job readiness and computer skills to adults and secures employment for adults who want to work in the community.
- Supports adults in engaging in leisure and recreational programs in their communities.
- Provides individual advocacy to address education, employment and personal finance concerns.

The Arc envisions a world in which all persons have the support they need for personal development, independence, and interdependence with family and friends, and inclusion in the community.

While The Arc’s work is focused on so many aspects of the direct support of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the ideals behind these beliefs are also deeply and naturally applied to all people of color, the LGBTQ community, indigenous peoples and every marginalized population in this country.
The Arc Lane County is devoted to the vision of a world where everyone, regardless of disability, race or minority status has the supports they need for personal development and full inclusion in their community. We pledge to achieve this through advancing knowledge, advocating self-determination and acceptance while promoting these values.
We support every person who is feeling the agonizing and severe hurt of systemic racism, prejudice and marginalization. We unquestionably reject anyone or system that discriminates against any person for any reason, and The Arc Lane County recognizes that a responsibility of our mission is to strive to change these systems.
