Everyone deserves to be respected, welcome and empowered.
Strength in Neurodiversity is a community-driven initiative dedicated to celebrating the unique gifts, perspectives, and contributions of people who identify as neurodivergent. Our goal is simple: to ensure that neurodivergent individuals are recognized, valued, and fully included as vital members of our community.
We believe everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and empowered to participate in all aspects of life.
Our Mission
The Strength in Neurodiversity campaign works to challenge outdated myths and misconceptions about neurodivergence and disability. We strive to build a community that is welcoming, inclusive, and accessible—one where differences are not just accepted, but celebrated as an essential part of what makes our community strong.
Words matter. Language shapes how we see and treat one another. The “r-word” is harmful, demeaning, and has no place in an inclusive community. We encourage everyone to take an active role in speaking up and standing against bias, discrimination, and hate when they encounter it.
Our Goals
Strength in Neurodiversity is an ongoing collaboration committed to meaningful, lasting change. We will continue to:
- Partner with community allies to expand and strengthen this movement
- Advocate for the elimination of the “r-word” and other harmful language
- Empower people with neurodivergence and disabilities to live self-directed, meaningful lives
- Recognize and celebrate the strengths and contributions of neurodivergent individuals
- Create opportunities for connection, friendship, and community belonging
- Build a more inclusive and accessible Lane County for individuals and families
- Promote workforce inclusion by encouraging businesses to hire people with disabilities for their skills and talents
- Provide educational opportunities that foster understanding and acceptance among youth and young adults
