Springfield, Ore. — Feb. 19, 2019 — The Arc Lane County will honor people and businesses who have made a difference in the lives of people who experience disability at its annual community awards banquet, which will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, at Along Came Trudy Events & Café, located at 1488 18th St. in Springfield.

Every year, The Arc Lane County recognizes people and businesses in the community who generously give their time and talent to improve the quality of life for people who experience an intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD). The awards banquet has honored individual and businesses in the community for more than 40 years.

“The Arc is honored to award exceptional educators, direct support professionals, volunteers, self-advocates and businesses who employ people with disabilities.” said Angela Phinney, assistant executive director for Arc Lane County. “Each award winner has made an indelible mark in helping people with disabilities live self-directed, happy and fulfilling lives.”

The event will include a catered buffet dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by the awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. The Arc will also unveil the cover of a book it will publish this spring featuring photography from Jon Christopher Meyers. The book, entitled Dreams without Limits: Changing Perceptions about People with Disabilities, showcases children, teens and adults with disabilities and their dreams for the future.
